Pitch: Grammy Award-winning artist, Drake, is hitting the road for his Summer Sixteen Tour with fellow rapper, Future. The tour launches on July 20, 2016 in Austin, Texas and concludes on September 18 in Vancouver. It will span over 39 shows in 27 cities both in the United States and Canada. OVO signees Roy Woods and DVSN are amongst the special guests slated to join the rappers on the road.

Background: Aubrey Drake Graham, also known as Drake, is a Grammy Award-winning artist from Toronto. His first taste of the spotlight came when he starred on the Canadian television show, Degrassi: The Next Generation. He then pursued a music career after releasing his first mixtape in 2006. His most successful album, Take Care, went double platinum.

Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn, better known as Future, is a music artist from Atlanta. In 2010, he released a series of mixtapes before signing a recording contract with Epic Records. He has released four studio albums and five mixtapes in the past four years.

Drake and Future have a history of collaborating. The two previously hit the road together for Drake’s Would You Like a Tour? concert tour. They released a collaborative mixtape, What a Time to be Alive, back on September 20, 2015, which included the mega-hits, “Jumpman” and “Big Rings.”


  • Drake’s newest album, Views from the 6, drops on April 29, 2016.
  • Future’s most recent album, EVOL, dropped on February 6, 2016. It received generally positive reviews from critics.
  • The tour’s name derives from Drake’s single “Summer Sixteen,” which is from his upcoming album.
  • The tour will include two concerts in both Drake and Future’s hometowns of Toronto and Atlanta, respectively.
  • The Toronto dates are also when Drake’s seventh annual OVO Fest will be taking place at the Air Canada Centre. Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg are scheduled to perform.
  • The duo’s What a Time to Be Alive mixtape debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.
  • Tickets for the American Express pre-sale go on sale April 26. General sale will take place on April 29.
  • Meet and greet packages are available. Drake’s “6 God Meet & Greet” includes a ticket, photo with Drake, candle, incense holder and foam hand. It will cost $1,000. Future’s “Meet & Greet” package includes a ticket, photo with Future, bandana and socks.
  • Apple Music is sponsoring the Summer Sixteen Tour.
